REVIEW WHAT WAS DISCUSSED DURING YOUR INTIAL CONSULTATION AND COMPLETE FORMS

Before we start your first treatment we will recap everything that was discussed during your consultation in case you want to make any changes or have any further questions and to make sure you are happy and ready to go ahead with your treatment.

You will then fill out the medical questionnaire and consent forms. It is important that you read both forms carefully, fully understand what consent means and fill out the health questionnaire honestly, disclosing all relevant health information.

TAKE BEFORE PHOTOS

The next step is to take some photos of your scalp from various angles as it is before your treatment begins. This serves as a reminder of what your scalp looked like before you started your treatment and it allows us as technicians to evaluate how the session is progressing and make any necessary adjustments to give you the very best natural looking results.

Sometimes images taken are also used (with consent) for our social media and website pages, however, you are completely free to opt out of this.

HAIRLINE DESIGN

This step is important. We will spend some discussing the shape of hairline you would like and we will draw various designs using a wax pencil until we create the perfect shape for you. This step can sometimes take up to an hour so we can make sure we get it just right for you.

There are many different styles to choose from such as rounded, peaked, edge up, receded and natural. Different styles will suit different people based on several factors including age, hair colour, skin tone and your personal preference. We will talk you through all the options and advise on what we think will suit you best.

PIGMENT SHADE

Once you are happy with your hairline design Colin will pick a pigment shade based on the colour of any existing hair you may have, your eyebrow colour, facial hair colour and how you would like your finished hairline to look. During your first session you may notice Colin using several different shades, this is perfectly normal and is to assess how a particular shade looks on your scalp as this can vary from one client to the next even with similar skin tones. There are sixty different shades to suit all hair colours and skin tones.

SESSION ONE

CREATING A BASIC FRAMEWORK

The first session is used to apply a basic framework for your Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP). This is achieved by applying micro droplets of pigment to the entire area being treated. At the end of your first session your SMP will still be quite sparse, this allows us to add density on each follow up session. We do this by going in between the gaps of your first session building up your SMP to exactly match the density of any existing hair you may have on the sides and back making the final result look natural and undetectable compared to real hair.

It is important not to lay down too much density on the first session to allow for adjustments in shade and hairline shape. During this session Colin will be testing your skin and how well it holds the pigment and will make adjustments for shade if need be early on in the process.

At the end of this session the pigment will look up to 50% darker than the healed results, this is perfectly normal and the pigment will fade slightly within the first week. Your scalp may also be red for the first 1-2 days after treatment.

SESSION TWO

LAYING DOWN THE DENSITY

It is during the second session that we will really start to add density going in between the pigment from your first session. Before we do this we will look at your scalp to check the level of fading and make any adjustments to the pigment shade based on the healed results of the first session.

The level of fade is different from one client to the next based on several factors such as skin tone and genetics etc. What happens is when we deposit each pigment dot into the upper layer of the dermis some of the pigment settles in the layer above, the epidermis. As part of our body’s natural cycle every few days it will shed the top layer of the epidermis and with it a small percentage of the pigment. Your SMP artist Colin knows this so will dilute the pigment accordingly to mitigate this effect.

Also now that you have lived with your new hairline for ten days or so we will discuss your hairline shape and height and make any adjustments based on your personal preferences.

SESSION THREE

COMPLETING YOUR NEW LOOK

Typically this is the final session. We use this session to add even more density and perfect the look and hair line. Colin will identify any areas that have lightened or where there is any pigment fade. He will then place the final pigment dots to even it all up to give you the perfect natural looking shaved head.

On occasion a fourth session is needed to fine tune your SMP and give you that perfect look. There is no extra cost for this. Because Colin is a client of the treatment himself he understands how important it is to get it spot on so our priority is perfecting your hairline and making sure you are over the moon with the finished result.
